Chris with Jasmine and Buck
Bobtown Springers began with its first Springer 15 years ago. Duke was such a great dog; we fell in love with the breed. We then got Duchess. We had six litters of puppies with those two.
After we lost Duke and Duchess a couple of
years ago, it was really hard not to have the two of them around. We
started our search for a new dog. There wasn’t any doubt in our
minds that we would want another Springer, but this time we were
looking for that special quality. That’s when we found pictures of
Tri-Colored Springer Spaniels. We were sold. We found Jasmine at
Whispering Winds kennels in
As destiny would have it, the day before we contacted Whispering Winds, they had had a new litter. We picked out Jasmine. We fell in love again. Six months later we found Buck at KinniRiver Springers right here in Roberts, WI. We were kind of partial to the black Springers, but one little liver guy won us over. Buck became part of our family. He is such a happy boy. Since then, Buck has had a battle with seizures. They are being controlled with medication, but we no longer wanted to use him as our stud even though the vet thought the probability of passing this on to the pups was minimal. We just didn't want to take the chance. Last summer we found Buddy at a family operation near St Cloud, MN. He is such a character and full of life! When we bought our Springers we had two purposes in mind; family companions, and hunters. Duke had been formally trained to hunt and we thought he was great. Neither Buck nor Jasmine has had formal training yet, but they put Duke to shame. They have great natural hunting instincts, and are incredible family companions.
We are not a big operation; we have just the one pair, but that allows us to give more attention to the puppies when we have them.
Our puppies are socialized with cats, other dogs and plenty of kids. When we have a new litter, we become the neighborhood petting zoo.
We love our Springers and we think everyone should have one. You should too!
